Have you considered writing a review of reading Astral Codex Ten?

I submitted my Connecticut Yankee review once and didn't get close to making it in. I've considered running my r!Animorphs review through Gemini to professionalize the tone a little, if I finish it in time, and submit that this year.

In general I don't really read the kind of book that ACX likes, though. They tend to love non-fiction.

I would encourage you to do this but also to not professionalize the tone. You're a good writer with a natural voice. That's why people like Scott's writing, they think it's because he's really smart or they're really interested in the topics but it's actually because he has a natural voice and writes long articles. you can do the same.

also the percentage of his audience who's interested in rationalist animorphss is higher than almost any other demographic in the world jus sayin

Well, you convinced me. The review is done and pre-reviewed by a couple people, let's hope I make finalists at least.

Since you talked about every other Bavitz story, what did you think of Cleveland quixotic ?

I also haven't talked about Chicago, which is in my backlog, actually.

Couldn't finish it. The fantasy world was just too "simple" and Bavitz clearly wanted to write about Hell instead, which he did near the end, but most of the story was about the boring parts. Jay is also a really annoying protagonist who removes all possible magic and whimsy from the setting.
